  3. Take a stroll in the town: Castleblayney itself has charming streets with a mix of modern and historic buildings. Take a leisurely walk through the town center, explore the local shops, Handmade Ice Cream Parlour and Irish-Made Crafts (Perfect for Gifts) at "Crafty" Gifts and Coffee Shop and perhaps stop at the local for a pint of Guinness!

  5. Swallow Studio in Annayalla, Castleblayney. It is a wonderful place to discover hand-made crafts. Visitors can explore the unique hand-woven scarves by Liz and the hand-painted scarves by Louise. These local artisans offer their creative and artistic work, showcasing their skills and craftsmanship. 
  6. The Lace Gallery in Carrickmacross (15 minutes drive) is a fantastic place to explore and appreciate this traditional Irish craft. The gallery showcases a wide range of Carrickmacross lace pieces, including garments, accessories, and decorative items. Visitors can admire the exquisite lacework, learn about its history and techniques, and even purchase unique lace products as souvenirs or gifts.
  7. Golfing: If you enjoy golf, head to the nearby Concra Wood Golf & Country Club. This 18-hole championship golf course offers stunning views of Lough Muckno and provides a challenging and enjoyable experience for golfers of all levels.  At the end of the day - enjoy a scrumptious meal in the View Restaurant overlooking the lake.
  8. Castle Leslie Estate: Located a short drive away (about 17 minutes) Castle Leslie Estate and the ancient village of Glaslough is worth a visit. This impressive estate features a historic castle, beautiful gardens, and scenic walking trails.  Before leaving this charming village, make a visit to Pocono - Ice cream and cafe or Glaslough Chocolates

Exploring the scenic Monaghan Drumlin countryside is a wonderful idea, and a visit to The Patrick Kavanagh Centre in Inniskeen is a must for literature enthusiasts. dedicated to preserving the life and work of Patrick Kavanagh, one of Ireland's most celebrated poets. Located in Inniskeen, which is just a 15-minute drive from Castleblayney, the center offers insights into Kavanagh's literary contributions and his deep connection to the local area.

Laneside Haven Self-Catering has limited availability for the summer months.  Our family accommodation has 4 spacious bedrooms and can accommodate up to 8 guests.  The holiday rental is set on a secure site with an enclosed garden and patio.  Our free to use recreation room with fitness equipment and Ping-Pong is a great indoor amenity when the weather is not cooperating! :)
